We have a new battleground starting in the house- Charlie
against all bottles! Since he gained weight right off the bat we were able to
introduce Charlie to bottles a little after 3 weeks. Luckily he seemed to have
no nipple confusion and for the last 2 months we have been able to alternate
between breastfeeding and giving him a bottle of breast milk… until last week!
Now he seems to REALLY hate bottles. We have tried everything possible-
different bottles, different temperatures of milk, feeding him in quiet,
feeding him in front of the TV, while bouncing on a bottle, during skin to skin…
and nothing we seem to do has worked. It doesn’t help if I am out of the house
or if other people give him the bottle. The only way to get him to take it is to let him cry and cry until he wears himself out, and then as he is falling asleep we can just slip the bottle in his mouth and it usually works like a charm! But the odd thing is he first started to refuse
the bottle the first day I took him to daycare to start his transition… it’s as
if he knows that something is off in our house now. Hoping that this is just a
phase that he is going through, otherwise these next 9 weeks of work are going to
be really rough on the both of us!
